That Brazil team was £#%&!ing awful, surprised they got that far. The Germans were £#%&!ing clinical though.

Brazilian striker Fred, who was replaced by Willian in the 70th minute, received a particularly hostile reaction from the home fans. According to Opta Sports, Fred failed to make a single tackle, cross, run or interception during the match, and actually spent the majority of his time in possession of the ball on the centre spot due to six restarts.
(yes, I know it's a different Fred)

Entire 82 tournament as it was the first I really watched

Watched this in local local youth club. Sticks in the memory. Scotland doing a Brazil against Brazil.
Mind blowing. While it lasted

Scotland in 1978 remain hilarious four decades on. I see they lost a friendly to Peru the other day, just like old times

98 my favourite as it's the first proper World Cup where I watched most of the games.

Loved it when someone you never heard of scored a belter

Italia 90 was really cool. Had one of those long sleeved Italia T shirts from afflecks. Both sisters suddenly decided to watch football and the eldest predicted a Cameroon win against Argentina, which I naturally pissed myself at.

She didn't miss a game after that personal triumph.

Ice cream every game in sunny Crumpsall. Great days.

Thumbs up

World Cup 1990 - I was 10yrs old so it was the first World Cup I can remember. Milla's dancing. Klinsmann's diving. Mathiaus' shooting. Gazza's crying. And England going out on penalties

World Cup 2014 - the group stages were the most entertaining I have ever seen. Shame it went to shit in the knock out stages..

World Cup 1998 - The best World Cup for me. The England v Argentina classico being the stand out game, had everything

World Cup 1994 - The McDonalds Hat-Trick cheeseburgers

World Cup 2010 - Vuvuzelas

World Cup 2002 - 8am Kick off times

Looked like it was going to be the best ever. Even the last 16 was pretty good in most games. Quarters on went to shit.

And I didn't especially enjoy the Brazil-Germany semi. Very bizarre vibe to it. Was like witnessing a murder.

The dummy from Socrates.

Saw a doc once about Brazil teams throughout history and they claimed that 82 teams defeat meant since then they've picked more defensive minded coaches. That side will always be my favourite national team, brilliant to watch.

Or the nervous breakdown of an entire nation, live on air. Still, I don't think there were as many suicides as after their defeat in 1950
