Same happened in the World Cup (Germany, IIRC). Ian Wright was still on the BBC books at the time (allegedly a £500k a year contract). England lost again, his summation was "no passion.. foreign manager... no passion.. Eriksson has no idea what it means to play for England... no passion... no heart... no passion..." all the while shaking his head.

Ian Dowie then broke down every element of England's play and highlighted where it went wrong in simple and subsequently obvious terms. He then muted Lineker and Hansen when highlighting that Pirlo was older than any of the England players and played in a deep role, something Beckham or Scholes should have been in the team to do.

Of course, Ian Wright stayed with the BBC because he's a "character" and Dowie did't get any further screen time as he looks like a Dr Who villain.

Tbf that's still probably more effective than 'Wayne! Wayne! Wayne!...Wayne!.......oh for f........Wayne!'

It's the "noine" that let's him down - blatant midlands accent there.
