Re: premiership years 06/07
Fantastic season, from underdogs to champions playing a style of football that just ripped teams apart. How many games that season did we effectively play camped in the opposition half with Gary Neville more of a right winger than a right back?
It had everything. So many goals were contenders for goals of the season. Fulham home, Bolton away, Roma at home were particularly pleasing in terms of our footballing dominance and quality, but coming back against Blackburn, Ronaldo's Roy of The Rover's wondergoal against Fulham at the death, and of course Liverpool away were pretty special moments too. The football was just breathtaking. So many moments that I even forgot about the comeback against Everton. It seems like seasons where we have players coming back inspired from adversity seem to be pretty special; Eric in 95/96 double season , Beckham in 98/99 treble season and then Ronaldo driving us back to the top in the 06/07 season. Any other examples? Seemed to be a great spirit there that season. Hreidwhats his name bodychecking Ronaldo in the first away of the season at Charlton and Rio in his face immediately. That was the kind of spirit that we'd been sorely missing for a long time. That game was also great as the fans showed they were fully behind Ronaldo who came back out at the end to show his appreciation. And a come back goal from a certain Norweigan |
