Getting your knickers in a twist tbh. Youre boring imo. You get cheap thrills from being the forum dunce. Pathetic David.

as well as 6 in 11 (3 match-winners) and a few assists between Jan and March (plus that sublime defence-splitter v Wigan) he also scored the always crucial opener at WBA. should've added that he won us another 3pts at home to boro and set up the winner at Stoke as well.

basically he was superb for a crucial section of last season; when some players weren't quite doing it it was Berbatov who stepped up to the plate. Most recognise that it was that run that formed the bedrock of the league title win, and the records show that he was one of the major players, along with Vidic imo.

the big question mark over Berbatov appears to be that he is often left out when we play 4-3-3, and his critics get very excited when this happens. there was a doubt before he was bought as to whether he would be able to operate as the kind of outside forward if you like in that formation, and therefore as to whetehr he would be as adaptable as Rooney and Ronaldo. this question mark remains, and with the emphasis on giving Rooney a chance to prove he should spearhead the attack then Berbatov has work to do; with Ferguson using Nani and Valencia v Arsenal, and talking up Obertan as someone he anticipates will play all over the front of the team it is clear that our tactics will continue to be along the same lines as last season.

people point to him being left out as evidence that he isn't valued and can't contribute. however, this ignores the fact that he was part of the superb team performance in Milan last season, took one (or ten) for the team in Porto, was very professional in both legs of the semi-final as sub, and set up a stick on goal for Giggs (or Ronaldo) in Rome as well as missing a decent chance of his own, only as a sub sadly in that match.

so as we can see! all the evidence is there that he can be effective in whatever formation we choose to use, and that he can adapt. The latest example was on Saturday, when in the space of a 10 minute cameo he linked up superbly with Nani for what could've been 2 goals, and also showed his usual sureness of touch and composure on the ball in general play while others around him were losing theirs. the problem remains though that he cannot provide the width the team needs, nor should he be expected to provide the leg-work to track back either - he is a creator, not a destroyer. imo it should've been Giggs and Berbatov in Rome, not either or. however, Giggs has shown many times that he can operate superbly as the brainsd of the side. if Rooney continues to be successful as the spearhead (albeit the Arsenal game highlights the fact that that is certainly not always going to be his best position) then it is probably the Giggs role in that formation that Berbatov should be looking at tying down. Get well soon Mr Hargreaves.
