That changes everything.

Bale would be phenomenal money - shame, he is an outstanding player.
Yep.

Bale would be a magnificent signing, if Spurs dont get Top 4 I can see it happening.

if bale does go anywhere, it will be to city or chelsea i should imagine for some ludicrous fee stretching around the £35m+ mark.

Young for less than £10m.

£60m for Bale & Modric.

Ronaldo money spent, European Cup in the cupboard 2012.

His agent was apparently telling people last month when there was talk of a United bid that a move could very well happen but not until June. Wouldn't surprise me with his contract situation. The Scouse will be in for him too but he'll want to play Champions League football I'd imagine.

Pretty sure that money got spent a long time ago, and it certainly wasn't on any new players tbh huge debt repayments.

What that UTD decided to wait?
I suppose he is quite versatile and shouldn't cost too much, so from that perspective I can see why some would think "it is on". However I think cleverley and welbeck will come into the team predominately down that side of the pitch. then there is park, nani (when valencia plays), and giggs.

Seems like we're signing everybody in the Summer...

MANCHESTER United are poised to edge out Arsenal in the £10million scramble to sign Southampton’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The 17-year-old, dubbed the new Theo Walcott, was all set to join the Gunners during the January transfer window.

Arsenal were on the verge of agreeing a £10m package – £5m cash plus add ons – with Saints until United suddenly made their interest known after facing the League One club in the FA Cup.

United indicated that they wanted to do the deal in the summer and would top any Arsenal fee and wages on offer to the teenage winger.

It’s now believed that United are the firm favourites to snatch Oxlade-Chamberlain, son of former England international Mark Chamberlain, from Arsenal’s clutches.

It’s understood the player is keen on joining United after originally being tempted by Arsenal, who have nurtured former Southampton protégé Walcott into an England star.

Liverpool also tried to sign Chamberlain last month but a faxed offer was dismissed out of hand by the Saints board.

United are also weighing up whether to rival Liverpool and Spurs in their moves for Blackpool’s Scottish international midfielder Charlie Adam.

Ferguson has become increasingly impressed by the player, recently suggesting that he was worth £10m for his corner-taking skills alone.

I ain't. I don't think there is any mileage in those rumours either. I asked the question because many people do actually think that there is truth in the Qatar stories.

[SIZE="5"]Fergie out to land his man
United boss out to sign unspecified player after failing in January

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he is out to land an unspecified player this summer.

The Old Master has revealed he made a move in the January transfer window that ultimately did not come off.

Whilst not specifying who his target was - or what position they occupy on the field - the United boss is determined to finally land his man in the summer.

Ferguson, who has been linked with signing a new keeper due to Edwin van der Sar's impending retirement, told United Review: "Billionaire owners have introduced a new world that is turning football on its head.

"For our part, we cannot afford to sit in an ivory tower. We have to face the challenge.

"It is a healthy competition and it goes without saying that we will not shirk it and I don't think we are doing so.

"Although I let the transfer window shut without signing a new player, that is because we did our homework some time ago and didn't have to rush into any emergency buying.

"We had an interest in one player, and I thought we had a chance of bringing him in, but the other parties involved weren't ready and so we have put it away until the summer."
