What neo said. Mourinho would have built on the momentum of winning the league in the manner we did and rebuilt the squad at the same time. The reason we've effectively got another three or four years to go is due to the momentum we lost during them theee years.

We could have been in a position now whereby Mourinho was coming to the end of his time at United having won a couple of titles and a CL or two, handing over a fully rebuilt squad to someone like Giggs or Keane.

Hmmm, neither of those inspire confidence terribly even in that scenario.

no way we would have even considered getting pochettino in 2013. he hadn't even joined southampton when fergie announced his retirement.

Think he joined Southampton in the January of that year, so he’d been there about 4 months at the time.

Correct. At the time the candidates being linked with the job were; Jurgen Klopp, Michael Laudrup, Manuel Pellegrini, Mike Phelan, David Moyes, Jose Mourinho, Laurent Blanc, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jupp Heynckes.

He was made to look so good by the ineptitude shown by Ed in that 1st season where he & Moyes made us a laughing stock. Don't remember too much love for Gill before that.

That's why I said 'with hindsight'.
