I've always thought Bale is like a left-footed version of Beckham, don't know if he's got Beckham's passing ability, but as a winger he really reminds me of him. Can't see any comparison to Ronaldo at all.

I think it's because both are quick, and are known for the finish while they are running into the area.

Ronaldo's a better all round player than Bale, but that's not to say Bale isn't great, because he is.

I don't see much of Beckham in him really.

Bale is a better striker of the ball from distance, I'd say. More variation in the way he hits it. Ronaldo generally blasts through the ball when facing goal and afforded space. Bale can do that, but is more capable of placing shots, hitting it side-to-goal, on the volley etc.

When you look at the damage he continues to do even when everyone knows he's Spurs' main threat, I can only imagine what Bale would be like around better players. I'd be really surprised if we're not in for him this summer #£#%&!themidfield

Ronaldo takes an obscene amount of shots per game. The stats are crazy. Across Europe, his shots per game ratio is usually miles ahead of everyone else. There was a Liga game a couple of months ago where he had about 15 attempts on goal Two years ago I think he had something like 40% more attempts on goal than Messi across the season. But his shots/goals ratio is fairly low.

But it wasn't a criticism of Ronaldo. More that Bale's hit several great goals from outside the box over the last year. I think he shades it.

He went to the united V madrid game when he lives in London.
I can't see us bothering with spurs for a long time though. Madrid or City.

Just for you, pal

From a few months ago:

Quote:
Lionel Messi, Barcelona

Goals: 29; Games: 20; Shots: 104; Goals/Game Ratio: 1.45; Goals/Shots %: 27.88

It comes as no surprise to find out that Lionel Messi is the leading goal scorer in Europe’s five major leagues, and that his 29 goals in 20 games means he has the best goals per game ratio.

It’s frightening to think that Messi already has more goals than most Premier League strikers will manage all season with 18 league games still to play.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paris Saint-Germain

Goals: 19; Games: 18; Shots: 93; Goals/Game Ratio: 1.06; Goals/Shots %: 20.43

Radamel Falcao, Atletico Madrid

Goals: 18; Games: 18; Shots: 63; Goals/Game Ratio: 1.00; Goals/Shots %: 28.57

Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid

Goals: 18; Games: 19; Shots: 141; Goals/Game Ratio: 0.95; Goals/Shots %: 12.77

Robin van Persie, Manchester United

Goals: 18; Games: 23; Shots: 84; Goals/Game Ratio: 0.78; Goals/Shots %: 21.43

Edinson Cavani, Napoli

Goals: 17; Games: 18; Shots: 77; Goals/Game Ratio: 0.94; Goals/Shots %: 22.08

Luis Suarez, Liverpool

Goals: 16; Games: 22; Shots: 129; Goals/Game Ratio: 0.73; Goals/Shots %: 12.40

Also interesting that Suarez has such a low ratio, wouldn't you agree?

Ronnie hits them from anywhere within 40 yards all game. What's the rat's excuse?

Can't get enough stats now, eh? :shakehead:

Would be dangerous to compare Bale's shooting accuracy stats to those mentioned. He's not a striker, so most of his efforts would be from greater distance, in all probability. Shots to games to goals to distance ratio etc might not be considered, imo.

All we've uncovered so far is that 'hit and hope' Ronnie isn't as deadly as RvP, Messi, Radz, Big Zlat, etc.

Feel free to do some stat searching of your own

A quick search on Google shows...

Quote:
According to Squawka (stats as of March 4), Bale has hit the target with 57 percent of his shots from outside the box, the best ratio of any player in Europe’s top five leagues.

The word 'boom' would appear to be most appropriate
