Or as Wenger said, "bouncebackability".

losing the title means fergie wont be unique.
losing the title means we wont get as much money.
losing the title means the scouse still have half a chance of getting to 19 before us.

there is no benefit in not winning the title.
Yeah, he's done nothing to set himself apart tbh.

Pretty sure it was done by Herbert Chapman, but not with one club.

Yes and no. He did it with Huddersfield (they have never won the title since) but died before Arsenal made it a hat-trick.

1 man has never taken the same club to 4 in a row- unique.

No, he won two with Huddersfield (1924 + 1925) but then left, only to see his team win it again the following year. Then he won two with Arsenal with a gap in the middle (1931 + 1933), and again his team went on to win 3 in a row but he died in 1934 so only saw the first of those.

That's not true actually, see above.

Fergie remains the only manager ever to win 3 in a row with one club, and not only that but he's done it twice.
(Whether someone else has done it with two clubs I don't know).

Sorry to go all rawkish but if that were Wenger....

Yep, I'm getting confused, Huddersfield won 3 on the bounce, but with 2 different managers.

Agreed. Hope we get relegated next season.

You know, for the the good of the future.

£#%&! me, Liverpool have played it perfectly this season

It's often mentioned, probably because in all fairness, it was the team that he built and he was a brilliant pioneer in football so he deserves the credit. But technically he didn't do the 3 in a row.

It just always strikes me as something that's missing when accolades are piled on Fergie - winning 3 in a row, twice, is amazing, but it's never mentioned.

"there's no benefit to not winning the league wah wah wah"

well guess what, we're not going to win it so we'll have to draw on this experience and come back stronger next season.

The sting of failure makes sure there's still hunger and the younger players in the squad will learn from the bitter experience, building character.

being so convinced of your own superiority breeds complacency, as we saw in the summer.

there's dead wood in the squad that needs binning. Hopefully this season will have shown up the weaknesses to such an extent that something will be done about them.
