Says a lot imo. It was pretty clear he was gonna retire in the summer, then suddenly he was playing loads of games, 2 games a week etc. United wouldn't start playing him a lot to try and show we 'need' him, so they can get him to sign a new contract and wouldn't have to buy a right back in the summer, would they?!

He's totally finished imo.

He's been a stellar player for us, a real United man - loves the club, but he's finished.Chasing back is out of the question if a pacy winger needs catching and he's always being skinned.And it's only going to get worse.

Its all lined up for Fergie, Giggs, Scholes and Neville all to retire at the same time at the end of next season.

Not a bad squad player, he's finished at top level but if he's asked to play the odd game he'll be fine for us.

It is a strange one.

There's no doubting that the guy is a legend and has been fantastic for the club. I also think he's proven his point after coming back from injury after people had written him off. He has been fantastic at times this season (especially City away).

With Giggs and Scholes it wasn't really a problem them getting new contracts because there's still isn't really anyone to replace him. But an extra year for Neville is only going to hold Rafael back. He needs matches badly. He's made a few silly mistakes (Bayern & Spurs) that he probably wouldn't have made if he had a bit more experience.

I think some of that may have been to give him the 10 league games necessary for a winners medal (just in case like)

Rooney back in training today, wont start unless fit Sunday he'll be on the bench no doubt.

Hopefully he will be third choice next season after Raphael and O'Shea.

He's got himself back to a v.good level imo after ages out injured and for that he deserves it, although another lengthy lay off would be disastrous for him. On form he should be going to the World Cup.

Still the mentality of every player over 30 is written off by some in this country.

Rafael is the future plus we have Brown, Neville and Big John so One Love's ladylike bitching again is a bit of a moot point. Yes we're broke but us not buying a right back this year has sod all to do with it. Man up.

I was hoping the RB slot would be held by Rafael and Fabio taking it in turns, unless Fabio can actually get the odd game at LB (and stay fit) with experience provided by Brown and O'Shea when required.

Just another body cluttering up the squad, useful or not.

Doubt it, he only signed a new 4 year deal last month.
