Thumbs down Season ticket increase

Bastards

Dear HolyMackrelDoodleBonkon

Firstly, we’d like to thank you for continued support of the club. As a much-valued fan we wanted to let you know of a planned increase to the cost of 2023-24 Season Tickets and explain why it is happening.

Past, present and future.
Season Ticket holders like you are the backbone to the club and your experience and loyalty is our priority. That’s why we’ve worked so hard to make sure our Season Ticket prices have been frozen for 11 consecutive seasons now.

However, this year is as you know is especially challenging. Match day costs at Old Trafford have increased 40% in the last 5 years and in the last year alone they have gone up by 11%. We are proud to pay our matchday staff the real living wage (an increase of 9% in many cases) which includes our stewards, kiosk staff and here to help staff. And our security cost per game has gone up 24% over the last 5 years.

What this means to you.
We know fans are facing a tough time too with the increased cost of living, so it is important to us that we don’t just pass that increase directly on to you. We are covering as much of the cost as possible and keeping the increase to Season Ticket prices to an absolute minimum.

Inflation is currently over 10%, but next season, Season Ticket prices will only be raised by 5% per match, round to the nearest pound. The club will cover over 50% of the inflationary cost.

Other Changes:
• Following the successful introduction of the minimum usage of Season Tickets this year – with more seats being used every game, meaning less fans miss out - we are increasing this to 75% of games for next season. As a reminder making use of your ticket includes cancelling, donating and forwarding to an Official Member, all of which count towards attendance at Premier League games.
• We’ve listened to you and our Season Ticket holders aged over 65 will no longer have to personally attend 50% of home games.
• Fans moving into the Over 65 category, or buying a new Season Ticket, will receive a 25% discount next season, which is in line with the majority of clubs and applies to all sections of the ground.
• The discount for fans who currently hold an Over 65 ticket remains at 50% and applies to all areas of the stadium. However, we are removing the cap of £20 as this is not sustainable and in some areas of the ground equates to over a 60% discount. But to help fans with this we will limit any increase to £3 per game per season.

Some things remain the same.
• We have protected our prices for young fans by freezing the child (under 16) £10 per game in dedicated family areas and also retained the 50% discount across all areas of the stadium. Our Youth (16-25) Season Ticket prices have also remained frozen.
• You can still forward your ticket to an Official Member, use the buy-back scheme or donate the cost of your ticket to the MU Foundation. All three count as ‘using your ticket’ and by end of the season we expect to have raised over £500,000 for our MU Foundation – helping those in need. Thank you!
• We are continuing with our cup game flexibility, meaning you can opt-out of any of the cup competitions.
• We’ll also continue to offer qualifying Official Members the chance to purchase a Cup Season Ticket.

So, what happens next?
We know you’ll have other cost of living demands right now but ask that you confirm if you will renew or not by 6pm Wednesday 15th March 2023. To do this, please visit the ‘Season Tickets’ section of your online account.

If you do not want to renew please select “Cancel and release this seat”.

We will be in touch with you again later this week to confirm when you are able to renew your Season Ticket, once you have made use of your ticket for 10 Premier League games this season (i.e. scanned your own ticket, or used one of the 3 options above). If you have made use of your ticket 10 games so far, you will be sent full information later this week.

The final deadline to make payment will be 6pm Friday 5th May. And you can spread the cost with v12 finance if that helps.

We know any price rise is not the best news, but we hope you’ll agree this is a great time to be a Season Ticket Holder and you’ll be able continue to support Erik and the team at Old Trafford next season.

Thank you for your support.

Regards
