Going a bit far tbh, though I have always preferred World In Motion personally.

The worst thing is that they've completely twisted the meaning of the actual song.

"It's coming home" isn't referring to the world cup, it's referring to a tournament of football being played in England

Euro 96

But the lyrics allude to a tournament win

Should have added a disclaimer - as a song I don't actually mind it (unlike YNWA) - I'm referring to the saying and every @#%&! saying it

The lyrics are actually hopeful and about belief more than anything.

[Verse 1]
Everyone seems to know the score, they've seen it all before
They just know, they're so sure
That England's gonna throw it away, gonna blow it away
But I know they can play, 'cause I remember

etc etc
So many jokes, so many sneers
But all those "Oh, so nears" wear you down through the years
But I still see that tackle by Moore and when Lineker scored
Bobby belting the ball, and Nobby dancing

Exactly. It’s £#%&!ing pathetic, and doesn’t even make any sense. Just a bunch of try-hard #@&%!s who think they’re hilarious. Was this even a thing during any other tournaments since Euro 96? I don’t remember hearing it as much as this year; may be down to the awful trend of viral social media.

By the way, are you ever going to answer my question?

yeah that was an abomination.

tbh, the 96 version of 3 lions is very apt now because before this tournament the attitude was pretty much exactly the way everyone felt about england back in 1996. We were awful. 1990-1996 was about as low as English football's reputation could get...

Before 2014-2016

£#%&!ing hell

Have you been in the pub today reminding people that the song they're singing relates to a location rather than a tournament victory?
