As far as modern stadia go OT is a complete mess. Wont be long before a new one is touted.

Working on two new stadiums at the minute and they're £#%&!ing great.

Stadia? Lexi?

Old Trafford is shite now isnt it. It used to look cool with the ‘modern cantilever’ roof. Its just a hodge podge now.

The Bridgewater Canal on one side, the Railway line on the other have always presented access and egress problems and would limit any new build at OT site that is outside the existing footprint.
Ownership of the land relative to the canal & railway is also a problem. United wont spend millions on land they don't/can't own
Best bet to move over other side of Wharfside Way, overlooking Salford Quays

Even without a new South Stand, two new quadrants which were looked at previously would make a big difference and iirc it wouldn't affect the train line. Last year I met with the architecture studio that worked on the South Stand designs and they said even without touching the train line you could build over it.

Why would we want to make the stadium bigger at this stage? There's a hell of a lot of empty seats around old trafford these days

you do realise that the land the ticket office/car parks etc behind the Stretford End is all owned by United, and could easily fit another stadium on it?

anyway, £#%&! moving

Could go and play at Wembley for a year or 2. That would cheer everyone up.

It's Valentine's Day pal, not even the promise of a ride can cheer you up

Yes and there was talk of building a new stadium on the site as OT will need structural renovations independently of any stadium increase that could be comparable in cost, no idea if that's still the case.

Yes it is, but its the two bridges, one over the canal (W2 W1 &W3 car parks) and the other over the railway line (Stretford End) that present the access and egress problems, presenting significant bottlenecks to both foot and vehicular traffic. Police and highways authorities are adamant about how these are controlled, which is why vehicle egress to Wharfside way is limited at the end of the game from the three main car parks

Should build it in Belfast and rename it the George Best stadium.

Plenty of decent hotels for Jose to crash at. Cheap flights for season ticket holders. Easy access for the island of Ireland.

Isn't there a problem with the foundations or something? I imagine Edwards, the PLC and the Glazers did the rebuild as cheaply as possible...

Yup, that was the issue, the foundations are old and the cost of re-doing the foundations are comparable to building a new stadium on the existing land. Any structural engineers on here?

Would love to see OT with Quads/South Stand extension, knock down that red hotel abomination while we're there, preferably with the squad inside.
