Then he’s badly advised. The best platform is Manchester United.

It is, but a domestic cup doesn't compare to the world cup.

The Smalling/Jones comparison has proved that the manager will let you get away with ducking games. So, objectively, Romelu has done the right thing and his advisers have served him well.

Unless that is, we don't really want the £#%&!er...

It's arguable that Mourinho had painted himself into a corner by okaying the transfer, and then compounding things by defending the player when he was playing shit. The response from Lukaku was excellent, but he's still something of a white elephant. Politically speaking, as far as the boardroom goes, the club can sell the idea of a replacement to themselves, the fans and the media. Mourinho can get away with turning his back on a player he'd previously lauded.

The only remaining question would be how it might affect the dressing room's relationship with Mourinho.

I'm giving this transfer the green light.

His agent is that Raiola @#%&!, so we can assume as a first principle that he's badly advised.

He can't moan now. Had the chance to nail down the position by winning us the cup!

Lewandowski in. Lukaku benched. Fellaini sold.

What Smalling / Jones comparison? Is that the one where Jose called out Smalling for lacking commitment to the cause even though he knew he'd needed painkilling injections to play because of a diagnosed foot injury for the previous 3 weeks?

I do think this Lukaku thing is going to be excused by Mourinho as him not expressing himself properly in English as it goes, as I heard it he was waffling about him being ready to play if it was desperate (ie if we didn't have Rashford or Martial to play). If it had been a case of Lukaku refusing to start surely any manager hoping to keep any level of authority would have just left him out of the matchday squad and made it clear why, as opposed to it only being picked up by the BBC pundits as even an issue and blown up.

Belgium v Costa Rica on MUTV for some reason. Lukaku's scored one but also done a lot of Heskey impressions.

Now he's just scored with a nice header
