Rio agrees new deal

Rio Ferdinand has signed a new one year contract, in a deal that will see the defender complete his 12th season as a first team player.
The centre-back has made 432 appearances since his debut in 2002 and won his sixth Premier League medal with the club this season.
David Moyes said: “It is clear for everyone to see that Rio has had one of his best seasons with the club and I think even from the outside you can see what a big character Rio is around the dressing room so I am delighted he has signed a new contract and I am looking forward to working with him”
Rio Ferdinand said: “I am delighted to have signed a new contract. Who wouldn’t want to play in this fantastic team in front of 75,000 fans each week, it has been an incredible journey and I am glad it will continue. I can now fully concentrate on my club career, which has worked well for me over the past few years”
“This is a great team to be part of and we are now moving into a new era with the club which is very exciting. I have met with David I am really looking forward to working with him and winning many more trophies with this great club”.

The passing comment "ferguson would have managed him better" made on the likes of Gascoigne have been proved a thousand times over with Rio.

Not completely off the rails, but had he stayed in London does anyone honestly believe he's have seen out twelve successful seasons with one club?

Add him to the legend thread imo.

Thumbs up I really

really, like Rio.

I think that he has grown into a good bloke after his #@&%!bish younger years and I think he is an excellent 'United' player.

I'm thrilled he is here another year. Jones, Smalling and Evans will all be better for this.

Great news, we needed to keep him for Moyes's first season and as Draggers says, great bants in pre season now caught on camera. Although Moyes might not allow all that shit especially for his first pre season.
