One was first choice, looked promising and got injured. He’s clearly our best central defender, even if a little raw. The other hasn’t worked out yet. It happens. Signing young players and developing them. Isn’t that what people want?

Well, we know mourinho has tried to get rid of at least 3 of those this summer. Rojo, just a few months after being given a new contract, which suggests it’s woodward giving new contracts rather than letting them run down for some kind of financial reason, regardless of how the manager thinks of the player or whether he even plays them.

Seems a false economy to me. Makes them tougher to shift, and either blocks the path of any upcoming players such as tuanzebe or mensah, or prevents better players being signed. We’d not be any worse off if we just gave them free transfers as none of the £#%&!ers barely play anyway. It’s a lot of wages for very little use, whilst clogging up the system.
