Surprised the vermin haven't done it yet.
That's 96. Maybe Coutinho should request it.

I always liked what Ivan Zamarona done at Inter. Ronaldo had 9 so he had to have 18 but put a '+' in the middle of the numbers.

Edit - gives me a chance to post this.

Rowley was my childhood hero some good background in this read, the last paragraph puts it in perspective

One of their old keepers got cancer so they've retired it. All their keepers have a number that ends in 1.

Maybe its a "lucky charm" thing, and they will revive it if he gets better?

The same Berbatov that was top scorer in a title winning season?

I hate the mawkish stuff, really hate it. But in fairness they haven't retired the number. Ikeme had to retire with one year left on his contract, so rather than go the compensation/insurance route, Wolves gave him the no 1 squad number for this season and gave him a Premier League pay rise for the last year of his deal. So he's basically named as a squad member and getting Premier League money.

No 1 number will be back next season.

The whole squad number question is a load of modern shite, the number 7 being special %@#$&!s that took root and still isn't dead despite the last 3 being di Maria, Memphis and Sanchez and it also being the number that Valencia wore during his worst season for the club which is a hell of a high bar.

Not only that but it allows the club to find novel ways to £#%&! things up like the Martial Ibrahimovic thing and tossery like Beckham taking a shirt number post United because Michael Jordan wore it playing basketball (£#%&! off) whereas in the old days whoever was in the team wore 1-11 and that was it.
