I think he was 50-50 on the idea of leaving anyway. So it's possible Madrid £#%&!ing around and making it awkward for him could sway him.

But Madrid's pursuit of him this summer has been a shambles, especially for a one of the biggest clubs in World Football.

We're into July and they still haven't got rid of Casillas (a request of De Gea) wherever it be sold or released and paid up. He's club captain too. :shakehead:

They've put low ball bids in for him, £12m Absolute no chance, United have chanced there stance a little (from £50m to £35m) but still miles away from that and the player isn't helping them by not playing Madrid's games.

They replaced a popular manager with a fat mess and that hasn't helped either, it was noted DDG wasn't overly thrilled with Benitez coming in and made Madrid aware.

But normally with Madrid they have the press, and they've had £#%&! all to work with all summer because Dave or the Mrs are NOT PLAYING THE GAME. They had him on international duty = nothing, yesterday at the airport = nothing.

The lads a £#%&!ing diamond, by far the best keeper in the world but he's been disrespected by Madrid this summer.

It's not as if Madrid are pissing over everyone. They won nothing and there's a new story every week about some sort of dressing room shite...Plus, their captain wants to piss off. I really don't get it

1) He's from Madrid. His family and girlfriend all live there.
2) Playing for Real will pretty much guarantee him to be Spain's number one for the next decade
3) I doubt he considers finishing 4th as something special and exciting

Not going to finish 4th next year.

Understand the first point but, if he's United's number one and playing in Europe, and carrying on the form he's shown, how can that not guarantee him the number one spot for Spain?

4) One £#%&! up and it'll be like a kleenex convention
5) He'll have 12 managers in the next 7 years
6) Every Cassillas fan will hate him, as will his allies in the dressing room
7) He'll make less money

The girlfriend thing is bullshit as well, he's playing for Utd, he must have his pick of women. And he could move the whole family to Manchester with the money on offer.

It's odd and,to be honest , I think Utd could and should put down a marker to Real here.
We developed Ronaldo for them and he's pretty much the reason they've been competitive with Barca. While Real have more weight with a lot of players now, we should stop selling to them. It just looks bad, regardless of the fee.

And I'm sure his family love the idea of being moved to the UK, they must be sick of the Spanish lifestyle

Amazed that people are expressing alarm as to why he might want to leave.

The things in our favour:

He's currently under contract
Benetiz

The things in madrids favour:

Literally everything else.

Because Spain doesn't work that way. He should have been number one two years ago.

He's had 3 United managers in 3 years.

Everbody hates Casillas now.

The desperate point people keep making about "one mistake and they'll turn on him" is a little hysterical. His quality at this point in his career is going to be very easy to see.

Real are a bigger, flashier club at the moment. Part of that is the domestic rivalry with Barcelona and Spain's international wins not so long back. Mega signings go to Spain, just like they went to Italy in the 90's.

The move is an ego trip for the lad. Don't buy into this 'nicest guy in the dressing room' balls that leads you to search for virtuous motivations. Why the alleged philandering in Manchester, despite the love of his life waiting for him back home? Pls explain the donut abuse while struggling to adapt to the Premier League?

Arrogant £#%&!er, just like Ronaldo.

I do agree that it could all turn sour. They continue finishing 2nd to Barca domestically, Spain fail to win anything for years on end, United start challenging Barcelona again in the Champions League... who the £#%&! are Madrid then? Us now, that's who.

The more we attract names like Di Maria and Ramos, the more players see Old Trafford as a fancy wris@#%&!ch. They're that shallow.

Similar to English football. The best players don't get selected in favour of "big names"
