Football Copa América 2015

Starts tonight on Premier Sports

Thursday 11 June

Group A Chile v Ecuador (20.30 local time/00.30 BST Friday)

Chile: Charles Aránguiz
Chile’s style of play makes them very popular and unique in international football, with the likes of Alexis Sánchez and Arturo Vidal undoubtedly the stars of the show. In a team so reliant on high energy and aggressive pressing, the role of Internacional midfielder Charles Aránguiz is key. The 26-year-old had an impressive World Cup campaign and ended the 2014 Brasileirao season with a rating of 7.06 courtesy of typically impressive all-round figures, including six goals, three assists and 2.6 tackles per game.

Can't wait. This is all people have been talking about here for ages. People in Chile are generally quite nationalistic (which is often irritating) but that means they go mental whenever the national team plays. Also the weakness of domestic leagues in S. America (with the arguable exceptions of Brazil and Argentina) mean that international football is more of a big deal than in Europe.

Anyway, it's great to have something like this in a drab, smoggy Santiago winter.

I've got tickets for Brazil-Venezuela, Brazil-Colombia and the quarterfinal in Santiago.

yeah well it sounds better in Spanish. Everyone in Chile calls him el Rey Arturo, which translates as King Arthur.

Valdivia is "el Mago" and Medel "el Pitbull" BTW
