Interesting in those clips to see how many long balls he latched on to and how high up the pitch teams were defending against us at times.
I remember him playing for fulham at old trafford (on a day when fergie put out a "team good enough to beat fulham", admittedly). were fulham a winning machine? also, martial would walk into our team now if we didn't have such a stupid dick in charge, but suggesting the raw martial is as good as saha when he was at united is just risiculous. soz. saha was quicker, stronger, better in the air and more alive to chances. the comment on him walking into our team on crutches was just a comment on our current team after watching clips featuring saha, ruud, ronaldo, scholes, keane, etc though. this is not a united team.

yes, I'm having another dig at mourinho.

Don't think there's any revisionism going on here btw. People were infuriated by Saha precisely because of how good we knew he was.

Thumbs down

Hated the @#%&!. Constantly injured and mentally weak.

Didn’t have the guts required to be a United player.

Fantastic talent, not going to hate a guy for being injury prone, especially if they seem a good pro and live the right way. He started to doubt himself, his body, you can criticize him for that or you could try and understand why some professional athletes suffer from anxiety over what might appear to be mild issues when they have a history of injuries.

Replacing RVN with Saha was a massively divisive issue at the time, which in terms of its overall thinking and effect was exactly the right move from Fergie, at the right time, allowed other players more freedom, made the attack more fluid and unpredictable, and an unselfish, all round, skilled forward like Saha was such an easy fit into that change.

Give Lukaku Saha's all round game/technique and he would be the best striker in the world.

Give Lukaku the team and service that Saha had to work with and he'd make Saha look like the injury prone lightweight he ultimately was, Give Saha the attacking system and service Lukaku had to work with this year and he'd have about 10 goals tops.

Lukaku would have been an inferior version of RVN in that team, and focusing all the attack on RVN was no longer working. He would have scored goals but not unlikely that the team total would have been lower.
