If Carrick gets a knock you imagine Van Gaal will tear Woys face off & use it as a mask in his next presser

saw a fair bit of the game on tele and england looked as least as good as the italians

what with the u21s turning the germans over as well it could be that this lot actually have a chance. funny if so, what with all the media and internet experts saying they haven't.

tbf if most teams are only as good as their attack then england have a chance atm with welbeck, rooney, kane, walcott and those vermin

They're probably considering things like not winning a game at the World Cup, rather than a draw in a friendly.

Italy were the better side. They played virtually a second string, and were away from home, yet didn't really look troubled. England were bailed out by a good strike. They've got pace in attack, but won't have the tactical smarts to beat any of the top sides.

Embarrassing seeing last night's performance being hyped up by the media as some example of great progress. Almost as embarrassing as the new-found Ingurland love-in for Michael Carrick. Only about 10 years too late, you clueless @#%&!s.

got the last bit right though - he might become fashionable late in his career like Pirlo

Didn't see it all but I thought Clyne was poor last night. I can't think of any international side with any pretension to being a top ten in the world who'd have Delph in the team. He's championship level.

Townsend saying he's been waiting for weeks to prove Merson wrong

In the meantime he's been proving him right every week

England will qualify easy enough for the euros then embarrass themselves in the tournament again.

Got a doddering old yes man in charge of a squad of mostly utter shit.

it's easy to predict what will happen, safe in the knowledge that it's what normally happens

but i predict that england will do very well in the u21 tournament, probably exiting unluckily at the semi-final stage after impressing

the cream of that group will make their mark on the big stage the following summer and show that the old guard - gerrard basically - was holding england back just as we all suspected. they will impress and possibly exit unluckily at the semi-final stage there too.

the ensuing moral panic will finally focus on quality mercenaries from abroad, not just average squad fillers from scandinavia as a root cause. hodgson will walk away peculiarly. southgate will become the ugliest manager in the history of the england national team.
