If ddg left, valdes would not be somebody we'd £#%&!ing buy to replace him.

He is clearly a no2.
With his injuries n wages, he is obviously ok with that. ( chelsea, bayern, real all have very good no2's also )

Couldn't stop that simple tap-in from Scholes in the 2008 semi-final. Do not want.

Not even slightly. He's a quality 'keeper. Very modern, great with the ball at his feet - possible to consider coming for crosses as a problem but like De Gea he never faced that week in week out in Spain, especially playing for a Barca side with 80% possession every week. But he's played at every level & he's got a great temperament, he's not as good as De Gea of course but he's infinitely better than Lindegaard, which is why he's signed a short deal & will be on the bench for us.

Yep.

In truth, up until about 2010 he was dropping clangers pretty consistently, often in the Clasicos (he gifted Ronnie at least three goals I can recall). But he matured as a keeper, stopped charging from his line needlessly, got better at getting into position and reacting, instead of guessing all the time. Capable of special saves now and again, too. Much better than Linders.

This is a good time to recall that Borsuk thought Lindegaard would turn out to be better than Dave.

He £#%&!ing loved Lindegaard.

IIRC, Borsuk's first choice to replace Van Der Sar was Maarten Stekelenburg.
