My thoughts are with Cato at this sad time.

Not sure that's fair on him. He overhauled the club and dragged it into modern football. He and his team completely changed the training setup, introduced sports scientists, dietitians, psychologists etc...

They were a right mess after Souness, Evans etc... They had all sorts of cultural issues (Spice Boys etc...) and were a laughing stock.

He also got them winning trophies again. Benitez's Champions League was built upon his foundations.

This.

Sad news but 73 is a decent innings.

Never liked him, tbh. Surprised anyone does. Always had a mean, condescending school principal vibe, IMO.

The way he made David Ginola the scapegoat for France's failure to qualify for USA 94 was despicable. Speaks volumes about him.

Anyway, RIP, I suppose.

Roy's not bitter much is he?

""The passing of Gerard Houllier is a real sad day for all Liverpool fans.

On the difficulty of trying to work as joint managers he added: "It was more or less impossible, you have got two people trying to do one job. Football is all about opinions and different things and that is why I walked away at the time.

"But I never held that against Gerard, he came to do a job and he did a good one".

Seemed like a nice bloke, but then again Eric didn't like him, so not sure why I'm supposed to care?

Anyway RIP.

Shame that he's dead I guess, but can't really say I care all that much.

Liverpool’s official statement starts with “we are mourning the death of our treble winning manager”

League cup
Fa cup
Eufa cup

£#%&! off

Having said that, would take any one of the 3 this season with glee

Oh yeah the mickey mouse treble.
Remember watching some morning show back then where the presenter argued with a scouse supporting celeb about the right to call it treble.

'But that's not a cup is it?'
'It's still a trophy!'

Damn, time flies.
I feel old.
