If he plays it will be in center midfield. Doubtless Fergie will try that line up in certain games, usually when he becomes cautious, but we now have a midfield in Hargreaves and Carrick that should be capable of holding their own against most teams. That should allow us to be much more attacking in our set up in the difficult away games. |

When has Scholes ever had pace? Quote:
This is arguably the stupidest thing I have ever seen written on his board. |

I am flattered If Scholes is playing in a forward position it will be more difficult for him to find space than it is in midfield. To circumvent this the player needs to be able to constantly be on the move. Scholes is not capable of this at this stage of his career and his lack of pace in that forward position would handicap our counter attacking threat. Play Scholes and Carrck+ Hargreaves in the same team and they will all occupy the same space. Last season Scholes was very often our deepest midfielder, picking the ball up and starting moves off. Giggs/Rooney played the off the main striker role last year, both of them are mobile, quick, can beat a man and are comfortable in wide areas. Scholes for all his talents does not fit that position. |
