Saccharine and brightly coloured like most mainstream US sitcoms, but it is well written and consistently funny*.

Unfortunately popular amongst very stupid people who like to shout 'we were on a breeeeak' and ask each other which Friend they're most like.

Prefer the later seasons too.

Don't get the Aniston love in though. Face like a p**** mascot and the best of a bad three.

*well, the men are.

quite liked it when i was a callow youth but i find it irritatingly shrill whenever i watch it now.

jennifer aniston circa 1995 was absolutely smashing though.

Quite true to life there though isn't it.

You have mates, you have a laugh, then he shacks up with a bird who turns him into a chandler from season 5 onwards.

I hated it when I'd never seen it, associating it with all other shit US sitcoms, then in 1997 a girflriend turned me on to it, and then I binged during my early 20s. I thought there were some excellent scripts from the male perspective especially. I think people who don't like it are just being cool, like i was before i saw it.

However...a girlfriend a few years ago pointed out the annoyance of the laughter, which I unfortunately now cannot 'unhear'.
The *awful* Big Bang Theory seems to have taken this to the Nth degree and I've returned to my default attitude to US Sitcoms.

Still if you take the laugh track out, it gets creepy.

Which reminds me of this.

Classic.
