Stan collymore. Absolutely unplayable in his pomp at forest v us. As good a performance as you’ll see when they beat us 1-2 in 94 /95 at old Trafford

Remember at one point him being labelled 'the english Ronaldo' in the press over here. He was unreal. Feared the worst when Liverpool signed him tbh.

He had everything tbh

It would not have been 26 years had Liam Brady joined Robbo Norm and big Frank

Nearly Shearer level when he was on it. Here’s him talking about nearly joining us:

Feel like the sentiment the summer Collymore joined Liverpool was that there and Newcastle were the places to be an United were on the way down.

Always remember reading an article by Chris Waddle on my holidays that year and he had United as outsiders behind 3/4 other sides. When you look at our summer business though it made some sort of sense.

Shearer - was embarrassing as at the time a friend was close to all the players families so gave me the good gossip.

I was told it was a 100% a done deal, I told everywhere who sat around me at OT it was done. Showed up first game of the season head between my tail and looking like a bullshitter.

He was brilliant that day, pace, power movement everything at the time we were reported as being in for him and it felt like it was something of an audition for him - was gutted we didn't sign him but went on to sign Andy Cole

Gazza, Shearer and Ronaldinho but we didn't fare too badly without them.

Fergie thinking he could control Gazza. No one could control that absolute fishing rod.

Ronaldinho nearly happened, and would have greatly strengthened us at a time when we needed it.

The young lad we got instead seemed OK. Wonder what happened to him.

Paul Gasgoine back in the summer of 88 as the thought of him & Robbo in that midfield would have been well, however the fact he foolishly chose to go to Spurs means that it was even more his loss than our's.

Robson and Gascoigne…there wouldn’t have been a better midfield pairing in world football at the time.

Cantona and Shearer would have been pretty much as good as it got as well imo.

Not sure how close they ever were but any talk of signing peak era Serie A Italian players had me fluttering, may have just been Clubcall talk but Maldini and then pairing Nesta with Rio would have broke teletext
