Is Kagawa at Dortmund a decent comparison for how he is playing recently? Always hoped that Kagawa would give Utd that ability to change the tempo of the game from that spot, Lingard with his movement and directness has some of those qualities.

Yes that is his role. I remember LvG saying he used Lingard often wide because of his pace to stretch the game, but saw him longer term as a second striker, finding space in those no10 areas. In terms of recent United players, Kagawa certainly that type, although I think he was more suited to that Klopp heavy metal football than Dortmund’s more recent possession game. Often liked to play quickly, taking very few you touches.
Seems to have struggled over the last year or two back in Germany.
