Much as we all despise him, at least he's got a few goals and assists, Downing cost £2m more

I don't have a problem with this personally, it will benefit him in the long run when it comes to prolonging his playing career. Still, not being in the market for a seasoned CM is beyond a piss take.

My cousin (senior physio in a hospital) was saying this weekend he thinks Utd should move Rooney on before he gets to his late 20s as his build/lifestyle means he is going to struggle to shift weight when he starts suffering from more injuries and being out longer with injury.

I disagreed somewhat, saying I think Rooney could be moved back to midfield where losing some pace/mobility may not be so serious, but his rationale seemed sound.

A midfield diamond of Carrick/Fletcher anchoring behind Rooney, Anderson & Kagawa strikes me as one with a lot of energy and dynamism.

I had to double check the username there.

Don't see the funny side of Fletcher's illness, don't see the problem with Anderson either.

There are any number of super fit athletes in the Premiership who'll run all day for you but don't have Anderson's ability. He also has a bit of invention, personality and spirit, unlike, say, that robot Valencia or Carrick for that matter.
