Default Team v Jean Reno - The Official Thread

Difficult one this after the bizarre nature of the last 2 games but I'll go with this even though there's zero chance Fergie will :-

VDS
Wes
Vidic
Rio
Senegalese Superman
Hargo
Carrick
Anderson
Ronnie
Tevez
Rooney

I like the look of that, but it will be Giggs for Tevez imo.

There isn't a hope that at least one of Giggs and Scholes will not play

I know, I'm picking my team though. I'd have Giggs and Scholes on the bench. I think Giggs could be a good player off the bench for the rest of the season.

You and me both, I think he's a great player to come off the bench.

As is Scholes actually, especially if you're just closing out the game.

If Anderson doesn't play i'll be gutted, personally I think he's made for games like these

Scholes less so for me but I still think he can start he just needs time to get back from injury. Anderson HAS to play pretty much every game 'til the season's end.

Although he can make way for Fletcher when we play Arsenal

giggs is a certainty...read somewhere this morning that Fergie has confirmed he will start and be captain for the night. So with that taken into consideration, think we'll see:

VDS
Wes
Vidic
Rio
Patrice
Ronaldo
Scholes
Owen H
Giggs
Tevez
Rooney

just not sure about Hargreaves or Carrick next to Scholes, but I am pretty damn sure he will have Anderson on the bench and bring on him for the last 20 minutes or so. Fergie will go for experience tonight, no question about that.

I agree that Giggs and Scholes should be available to come off the bench.
My gut feeling however goes with both starting "because of the experience they bring to the side"

I do hope Anderson starts, he's got to be one of the top midfield players in the world on current form. Love the guy.

Wouldn't mind seeing Hargreaves in, but only ahead of Scholes; the other two must start in midfield.

By the way, there's a fairly strong possibility that Lyon will start either Jean-Alain Boumsong or Cris, who hasn't played for several months, alongside Squillaci. If not it will be Bodmer out of position at centre-half. Either way they are likely to have a weakness at the heart of their defence. Would be a good reason to put someone like Tevez in.

Just hope we can keep the ball and use it, as opposed to our usual effort away from home in Europe where we tend to give it away every 10 seconds. Who'll start in their midfield/up front? I'm assuming it'll be Benzema with Govou and Afra up front.
