Exactly, in modern football with the defensive systems and the way the play is compressed the full backs are so crucial to offering width and attacking options. Look at Liverpool, 3 of their goals on Friday were assists from full backs, including yesterday's goal I imagine our full backs have contributed about 2 goals and two assists all season.

I just cant understand how you cant develop youth players in to fullbacks with the coaching that they have over there. Its probably the most straightforward position on the pitch.

Big Louis was addressing this but they £#%&!ed him off

Young has two goals and two assists
Shaw has 1 goal and 4 assists

Young’s came from free kicks didn’t they?

And Luke’s only goal for Utd ever!

In fairness until Mou was sacked they were barely able to cross the halfway line, and their positioning has become more conservative under Ole as the weeks have gone on. Shaw has been quite productive from that position though. Demonstrated good variation too when you think of the ball for Rashford's goal against Watford and the long ball for Lukaku on Sunday.

He's improving. This six months of football will set him up well for pre-season. Big year for him next year to finally put it all together.

Says a lot when he's one of the more hopeful prospects out of the current shower.

Harsh. There are some very good signs. He's kept a decent level while everyone else has collapsed recently.

Think someone said he has four assists in his last eight domestic games. In a team that is struggling to score.

Both can be true tbf

After checking he has five assists this season. Four have been in the last couple of months.

You have to look at the way the team plays to dissect the full-back's attacking output though.

Klopp has those two lads flying forward every game. Shaw has been far more restricted this season.

Probably been our best player second half of the season. Don't think he's being held back.

Ole on him the other day:

Quote:
"I think everyone that has been following Luke has been waiting for that consistency. I've been very, very pleased with him. He's only going to get better.

"He is at a great age now and he is at an age now where he has maturing and we will see more and more consistent performances."

Our double player or the year and our best player second half of the season is not in England’s top 27 players but Fabian Delph is...........
