Whereas England has plenty of sides challenging Abu Dhabi.

The difference is though that, with the exception of a couple of years when Fergie managed Aberdeen, it’s always been the same two teams challenging up there. For over a hundred years. Two team separated more by sectarianism than football rivalry.

Yep. It's been nearly 40 years since anyone outside of the Old Firm won the league. And it's not like during that time any other team has even came close to ending the monopoly. City winning the last four out of five titles doesn't even compare

Aberdeen choked the league on the last day in 1991.

You need to take into context Rangers situation, before judging Gerrard's job at Rangers. They were nowhere near Celtic when he took over, so to win a title in his time there was a solid achievement. They hadn't even beaten Celtic in 6 years. The season prior to him taking over, they finished behind Aberdeen as they had the previous 2 season following their promotion. In his third season at the club, he took them to the title where they were unbeaten in the league.

Not sure what has happened at Villa, but has been an utter disaster. They seem to have spent a lot of money the last few years on absolute shite tho. A club who probably have expectations above their station, though they should be performing better than they currently are.

Exactly. I was living in Glasgow at the time and was an Aberdeen fan that day. Mark Hateley

Anyway, doesn't matter. Gerrard is still a failure. Doubt he'll luck his way into another PL job like Lampard has. Who knows though - some clueless owner might hire him based on his name rather than his ability.

Rangers were injury ravaged and Aberdeen went into the game in form needing only a draw. Motherwell had cuffed Rangers 3-0 the week prior giving Aberdeen the goal difference.

Alex Smith the Aberdeen manager never lived that down, dropping the 442 to play another midfielder. Michael Watt being in goal instead of Snelders was brutal too.

He had a nightmare this season, spending a shit ton on Diego Carlos and basically getting ready to punt Mings, didn’t he strip him of the captaincy? Only for Carlos to do his knee and he had to bring Mings back.. absolutely £#%&!ed the dressing room.
