anyone born before 1986 however has no excuse

Eric was the better player, Rooney would fare better in this team, I was born before 1986. Hth

For the current squad...Keane.

For myself, (favourite) Cantona

Ronaldo.

Unlike any of the others mentioned so far, Ronaldo reached the apex of the game, as the best individual player on the planet for 2, possibly 3, consecutive seasons at the club, winning everything there was to win on the way.

Even a teenage Ronaldo of the 2003/04 vintage would be a vast improvement to the current United side, filling that gap on the right flank. Then the 2007-2009 version would be able to carry the side on his back, just like he did so many times back then, with match-winning goal after match-winning goal. Strong argument that he's the best player to have ever played for the club.

Eric or Robbo.

I don't think I've seen any of our midfield stick a decent or painful challenge in on any of Klopps players during his reign. Having Robbo back just for that would be marvellous.

All right, all right. I’d already decided Keane, you don’t have to keep selling the idea to me.

Keane.

A drinking culture might have been undeservdely maligned couldn't it. Bonding, no press leaks, no time to post terminable insta content. Current squad I couldn't imagine any of them sat in a pub. Maguire maybe.

Robbo would be injured too much. The old team leant on him excessively, this one would be hiding in the changing rooms when he wasn’t fit.

I’d go Keane.

Either one of them would punch any players who weren't giving 100%. Precisely what we need.
