Because he's a very good central defender - an area in which we are struggling. Is the fog lifting yet ?

If it's a January swap for Smalling then I'm okay with it.

Why wouldn't we want him ffs? Yeah, he's not the worlds greatest but hes a gigantic improvement and will add experience and stability.

Him and another CB would be lovely seeing as our defenders get injured every week.

Nearly 30 and always gets injured.

S**t at passing and at air duels so what use is this lanky streak of p***?

Maybe the manager who saw him have a great World Cup has a different opinion to you. I wouldn't expect LVG to lecture you on how a post room franking machine works.

Did well in a back 3 in the summer but in a 2 centre back defence I'm really not sure
Could get badly exposed

Only signing the @#%&! cos of the dutch connection and us being so weak atm at the back.

Would not be signing him otherwise.

Been at Villa two seasons - 31 starts first season, 34 the next. Not exactly a cripple. And he's great in the air. Not the best passer or carrying the ball forward, but we don't need that now - just need someone to win headers and tackles around our box.

Not saying we couldn't do better, but he's a lot better than what we have at the moment.

Now what I would call a lanky streak of piss, either.
