Default Berbie's finish

Been watching this over and over - as simple as it looked, it's really very impressive.

From that distance, it didn't need nearly as quick and clean a strike. But the same strike would have scored from 15 yards - and he will do in future.

The height and angle at which the ball came to him, and as quickly as it got there after the deflection, would have put off many a top striker - anyone see how Defoe handled a similar situation over the weekend? And of course, the utter nonchalance with which he took it only makes is better somehow.

Sorry to over-analyse a tap in.

it's all so £#%&!ing easy for him.

Brings a nice balance of calm to the front line where everyone else (well, except Ronaldo) seems to run about like a £#%&!ing loon he's pretty serene.

It's annoyed me, that WBA defender who is standing only a few steps away from Berbie and playing him onside by 2 yards puts his hand up for offside

he carried the ball well on occasion on saturday too

i was near the front of the North Stand and his touch up close is just so good. it gives him so much extra time on the ball

Point is it would have gone in had he been at the penalty spot, and I can't think of more than 3 or 4 other players in the world who could have hit it like that. The rest would have shinned/sidefooted it in, neither of which would work from much further out.

Reading Grimsybabes' original post, it sounds like he's describing Eric's 96 cup final goal at first. Only Eric could have reacted like that and the best thing Eric did was make it look easy.

HTH.
