Good deal for Bayern really but if we could get 3 or at a push 4 good years out of him then it would be money well spent however we definitely need to sign someone like Schneiderlin as well because it's too much of a risk to rely on Schweinsteiger staying fit

I can understand if we would want two different types i.e Gundogan and Schweini/Schneidy but if we only sign one midfielder it still isn't enough imo. We saw how we floundered whenever Carrick was gone. That's just 1 player, who is 33.

We need two midfielders, don't care if it ends up in two different ones or two similar ones. You could argue we should focus more on defensive steel than another passing playmaker.

I have a feeling we may see a resurgent VP next year if he stays. On song, he's a better centre forward than Rooney.

A proper Rooney with a good team around him yes

But a Rooney just #@&%!-blocking the central attacking areas with not real threat in behind and no real concept of why the ball has been leant to him? Could be as horrible as usual regardless who else is in the side.
