He may have been world class, but for me didn't prove it.

World class players usually play for big clubs for a start.

Just makes Shearer more impressive then tbh. I don't even like the guy but he was a force of nature. Two big ligament injuries didn't stop him.

Irrelevant accolade imo.....

Not sure why you're beating yourself up about it...

Scored a few here domestically, did £#%&! all at Madrid, career nosed dived...the lad is also a massive @#%&!..

Ashley Coke didn't do it for long enough, a season tops as the best around isn't works class...

He was a force of nature in a bad league. You could genuinely argue that the '90s Prem was the 4th or 5th best league in Europe. Which would make it similar to be current French league. Like I say it's not that he didn't have the talent; I just think he needed to step up a level.

should have him versus Ravel Morrison on the undercard of McGregor/Mayweather as neither are going to make it as footballers

Possibly hard to put him in the world class category for the same reasons. Cantona had genuine world class ability; one of the most naturally gifted players you'll find. But you could argue his lack of success in European or international football goes against him.

Would we see someone who only did it in the current Serie A but not in Europe or international football as world class?

Shearer? Would've been awesome for us, in the PL due to our dominance at the time. We'll never know if he could've cut it against the best though, because he never tested himself at United level.

£#%&!ing bottler is right. Happy to be the big fish/small pond.
