Does he count as a home grown player still?

If so…he’s a legit great option to have

We have a lot of games ahead this season…he could easily play in 20-30 games

Fine for 4th/5th choice CB. Cheap deal; can play league cup & vs dross. Knows the club, will be v motivated to perform: allows funds to be concentrated on striker.

Imagine going back in time to 2013 and telling a united fan what will happen in the next decade

Evans isn’t deadweight .. certainly not comparable profile or personality to many of the others who have passed through since he exited. Club captain at both teams he played for subsequently; starting CB in a Cup winning team. He was over-awed in the transition from Fergie to motley crew of clowns that managed the club since but can contribute. Milner, T Silva, Fernandinho etc examples of players older who have contributed to mantra of cup winning teams recently ..

A quote from when he was leaving (won’t embarrass the actual poster)

Is he £#%&!, by the way. He was absolutely awful for us for the best part of his last two years here.

Yeah - so basically under Moyes and Van Gaals first season, both of which the club was a mess in which no one came away with any plaudits really.

Played more games than Vidic in the final title winning season. Think the subsequent decade has shone a light on structural issues during period of J Evans demise .. obv never a great but still a player who could have contributed under the right set up (& indeed one of the very few players who left the club and actually went on to win something or play at a decent level consistently elsewhere)

We’ve given him a short term contract so he can play a few friendlies with the kids, get himself fit and give him time to find a club. Worst case he occupied the role Tom Huddleston had with the U23’s last season and Paul McShane the year before.

And we’re not remotely interested in Welbz

Bellers thinks he's going to be starting next to Martinez against Wolves

Certainly causes issues with that stat.....

Would genuinely take him on a year long deal and play him in the league cup.
