Aye, absolute idiots who wheel that out. These kick offs are completely out of sync with their body clocks. Carbo loading for breakfast after you've just woken up or getting less kip the night before a game.

They've been resting their players in the league for a while now

Going to come at us like a house on fire on Thursday while we'll probably make our usual sluggish start

loads of the players united send out will be of the well rested variety because the first choice is hurt or they've played far fewer matches. blind , martial , darmien , miki , lingard , wiggy. shit half the team. maybe we get mata back.

Yup we played Thursday night though so we couldn't switch the player's wake up/meal times in the run up so they could get used to it.

The margins in fitness you're dealing with at this level and the difference they can make are mental.

Getting to the league cup final and the quarter finals of the FA Cup has basically caused this.

Are we the only top european league that has 2 domestic cup competitions? And no winter break?

On top of going deep into both domestic cups and Europe - we have the added problem that we weakened out squad in january and signed nobody. It was a gamble that looks to have backfired.

Debatable tbf Old Bean : Schweini wasn't playing, Schneiderlin was the Invisible man even when he did get picked, and Memphis was £#%&!ing useless for us...

Weakening our squad was selling CR7 and getting Michael Owen in on a free transfer

Letting 2 midfielders from in and around the first team squad without promoting or signing someone was a mistake nqat. Even if it was someone who would be nothing more than a squad player.

Of course losing two players in a position we don't have any depth in is weakening the 'squad'.

Yup the fact that are numerically no midfielders there to play in midfield outside of the two that started today when we have injury/suspensions.

Will it weaken our squad if and when Fellaini leaves ??

The point really is that it was our full strength and rested team's inability to close out dominant matches at OT that caused this £#%&!ing mess to begin with. If they'd taken care of business in those easy games either side of New Year Mourinho would have been able to rotate and rest much earlier, and more freely. As it is our incompetant forwards created must win games from about January on.
