They'd won 2 FA cups a league cup and the cup winners cup in the late 90's, it isn't the same as the Berts, Chelsea were a decent side, a side full of @#%&!s but a decent side.
They weren't anywhere near the level required though and had overspent badly. While it's not the same as the berts, they'd certainly taken financial risks to attain the position that they held under Bates and if they'd spent only what they could afford, they'd be mid-table. They got lucky cashing in. Similarly, Villa thought they'd got lucky with Randy Lerner but it appears not.

Loved that, tbf.

Winter's whole argument was essentially that LvG is "rude" to the journalists

The very idea.

They spend their entire careers printing utter %@#$&!s; scurrilous rumours and are ready at the first sign of trouble to gather like a committee of vultures to get their pound of flesh out of Manchester United. Yet our manager is supposed to humour them and their never ending stream of ridiculous questions.

Tbf the other hack did remind Winter that LvG's #@&%!ly approach to press dealings was something they all excitedly claimed to be relishing when he was appointed. Winter: "but he's rude " etc £#%&!ing @#%&!

These pompous idiots have actually got it into their heads that they are every bit as important to the sport as the players and managers are these days. If the prominence of Twitter, social media and its plethora of ITK bullshit merchants has proven anything, it's that any moron can do what these £#%&!ing hacks to for a living.

They're a £#%&!ing stain on the game. They add nothing but tittle-tattle and hysteria, they stir things up, they'll present stories in whatever light serves their own interests (see the way they presented the whole Moyes saga and their best mate Dave) and they HATE it when managers don't pander to them and make them feel inferior.

Absolutely right. Main reason they hated Fergie. He spoke in his recent BT interview and when outlining the components of success, he described the press as "periphery" because they'll never be pleased. They couldn't stand the fact that, more that dislike them, he never thought them to be anywhere near as important as they'd like to think they are.

LvG is the same; he's not intentionally being rude - he just doesn't consider that ten minutes he talks to them after any given match to be a very important part of his day.

Spot on. Look at the way they go on about the Football Writers' award, as if it's the main one, and play down the PFA award. Like a footballer wouldn't rather be hailed by his peers than a bunch of wheezing £#%&!s who've never kicked a ball in their lives.

Them Friday pressers are a waste of £#%&!ing time anyway with the same stupid questions:shakehead:
The only bit worth listening to is the injury situation to see who's available for the next match.
They could just put up that on the web and stop wasting the clubs time each Friday
Then just do a monthly press conference for half an hour or so

Yes, very much so. We had one of them, who I won't name, phone us at work the other week, not on a journalism related matter, but because we provide some services to them. He couldn't have been more arrogant or awkward if he'd have tried. Anyway, he couldn't have what he wanted so basically called my colleague stupid (if fairness he was right on that one) but used the line I can't ever imagine anyone using in real life "do you know who I am?". A £#%&!ing journalist ffs. Don't think he was too impressed that she didn't have a £#%&!ing clue, but that's kind of the point, you're not celebrities, you just write about football and the whole of the world isn't hanging on your every word

The Premier League made it mandatory

Another one of their many crimes is filling the heads, of otherwise empty headed morons, with utter tosh that they then insist on spewing to all and sundry in an effort to be itk about footy

The second anyone switches that show on and claps eyes on the likes of Martin Samuel discussing prfessional sport is reason to turn it off.

Unless he's talking darts, the fat chubby yum-yums bastard.
