Default Action Areas by League

Can certainly see contrasting styles in the different leagues. English teams don't like playing the ball in their own half and defend deep, with a huge quantity of defensive actions in and around the penalty box and relatively few higher up the pitch. German teams focus their play heavily in the midfield, play through the centre of the pitch, and defend forward across the field. Lots of midfield battles. In Serie A they also play a lot through the centre of the pitch and defend quite high. In La Liga and Ligue 1, by contrast, there's a much heavier emphasis on playing down the wings. Mix of defensive actions inside the box and in wide positions higher up the pitch in Spain (different styles?), whereas in France there are few defensive actions inside the penalty box.

This feels particularly relevant to me as I was in an old greasy spoon with tiled walls just like the Dutch league.

Interesting.

What the hell's going on in the Dutch league, does the keeper just punt balls up to the opposition penalty area?

It's quite interesting that the data doesn't seem to change despite the teams swapping halves after the intermission

I think its QI. The prem figures must be boosted by the teams that lump it up.
