Default Would you take Owen to the World Cup?

Had a good argument on Sky Sports about it last night. Jamie Redknapp argued that Owen shouldn't go as he doesn't play enough games. Ruud argued "Neither does Emile Heskey but he starts every game". Very good point. He has to be a better option that Carlton Cole or Peter £#%&!ing Crouch.

if fit and in form, england would be mad not to have him at least for the bench, i don't understand the debate.

Carlton Cole is out for three months. Fabio goes on about players not playing for their clubs. He'll be back in March, apparently, and then have to get match fit again. Owen has been, pretty much, fit all season apart from the two weeks he had out and already has 7 goals. He's probably had the most playing playing time of the England centre forwards with the exception of Defoe and Rooney. Crouch hardly ever starts and yet is always in the squad because he "offers something different". For the record, I can't see how Cole even gets into the squad ahead of Owen. It's outrageous.

Can't for the life of me think why we wouldn't take G Neville, Beckham and Owen.

Other countries would love their experience in a World Cup - I hope Fabio C. goes for them all (same goes for Scholes if he were still available).

Gary Neville? As much as I love Gazza, he doesn't merit a place in the 22.

I'd take him to the Cumberland Pencil Museum for a week first and see how we got on. Wouldn't want to go on holiday for longer than without knowing if we got along

I said Michael Owen, not Oliver Gill.

I can kid myself though....

Seriously - I'd take Foster, Cougar, Carrick, Brown, Rio, Owen, Rooney and Scholes given the chance.

I see Carrick as the Modern Day Glenn Hoddle at the back. Not insulting disabled people but a ball playing, mullet wearing sweeper.

Think he has to go.

0-0 with the Italians in the semi final, 10 minutes to go and you're throwing him on, most likely England striker to take the chance if it comes there way imo.

Only thing is, if Capello is gonna go with Rooney/Heskey, the person most likely to come off the bench will be Defoe. Owen definitely the next best option. "Here we are, in the world cup semi final, it's a stalemate and on comes the cavalry...Carlton Cole and Peter Crouch".

I don't get England's obsession with the "big man little man" up front, it's £#%&!ing %@#$&!s, why does the man playing with Rooney have to be a 'big man'?

Rooney and Defoe together would be the best combination they could cause a lot of problems to defences. But now, apparently we need Crouch or Heskey up there to launch the ball up to.

Oh and I'd take Owen, he would be a great option off the bench for England.

To be fair to Capello and Emile, Heskey/Rooney is the best partnership up top. Owen just needs to be in there to mix it up if need be. Along with Defoe.

Rooney, Heskey, Defoe, Owen, Bent()

Redknapp is a tit.

Owen has just banged an hat-trick in the back yard of the German champions in Europes premier competiton.

Sod's law that he will go the world cup and come back knackered.

I disagree.

Heskey can't even get a game for Villa ffs, he is a @#%&! as well.

Defoe is the most inform English striker.
