Lindegaard, Evans, Rafael , Nick Powell, Javier Hernández and Nani
They seem the obvious ones to go. Should get a decent bit of money for them Sad to see Rafael go but LvG clearly doesn't rate him and Valencia on recent showings will be adequate backup for the top class right back we sign in the summer Question marks over Di Maria and van Persie If Di Maria's head is right and he really wants to make his Utd career work then keep him otherwise look to off load him to PSG. Suspect he will stay As for van Persie, if he is happy to play a squad role as backup centre forward to Rooney then let him see out the final year of his contract otherwise let him go |

Lindegaard
Evans Rafael Clevs Falcao's not staying van Persie Hernandez Nani Miraculously Young has made himself a viable Manchester United player, & even more miraculously Fellaini appears to be worthy of a place in the squad as well. Plan C only tbf but it's better to have the thug with us than against (unless someone wants to pay what we did...) That's actually a £#%&!load of money right there even in nominal fees but wages would be massive. |

Wouldn't necessarily call Raf a top class RB anyway. He's good when fit, but positionally suspect and prone to stupid challenges as a result. |

I'd keep him, but only because we'd never get what we paid back for him and because we've got enough business to do. Can see him being £#%&!ed off for a fraction of what we paid next summer a la Veron though.. |

Do players not get time to settle now then? We just give up on £60m investments after one season? its not like he hasn't shown the potential of what he can be for us. even in poor form, he's still an outlet, still goes looking for the ball, looking to make things happen and still chips in assists. as well as Ashley young has done, I suspect di Maria will make that left side role his again soon enough. |

It's more perception than anything. Mata's statistically way out ahead of them, but he also has the benefit of a sublime first touch, being able to weight his passes correctly & vision. Young & Fellaini are somewhat more prosaic by anyone's standard. They would though, appear to be more willing to "get stuck in", which is your primary concern. I'd also go along with the wisdom of Roy Keane in a United side must "match them for effort & let your class shine through" (or words to that effect.) Mata's able to increase his effort, I don't think Young & Fellaini are able to raise their individual quality to match Mata. They are however able to combine with Blind to be greater than the sum of their parts, which is why team sports like football are so glorious. 3 good players working in unison are always going to outshine an individual (unless you're talking about Messi or Ronnie tbf). This was always one of the biggest gripes about the current United squad for the past 3 seasons... it relied on individual quality (van Persie firing us to the title & Moyes throwing all his eggs in the Rooney basket). It should absolutely always be a unit, far more than the sum of it's parts. I didn't think Van Gaal was going to be able to implement it for the most part, the tinkering, the frankly baffling formations & player positions (Mata in central midfield too deep, Rooney in the middle, Di Maria up front etc) but it's all come right in the end because the formula has been found. It's proving his ideas on the team > the individual & you can see them buying into it. What we need to hope is the better players buy into it the same way Mata has. & more than that, the new signings in the summer buy into it & bed in £#%&!ing rapidly as well, as you can see the progress (finally... ). |
