They should have ripped Barcas hand off for the 140m and gone out and bought some £#%&!ing defenders. He could have had Aurier, Van Dijk, De Vriij and have had cash left to throw at a keeper ffs. Almost a dereliction of duty that he turned it down and then spent another 35m on a midfielder

Yes managing their brand. They have bad memories of selling Torres to Chelsea and what that meant for the perception of the domestic pecking order (although that would have turned out to be a great trade had they not reinvested the proceeds in Andy Carroll )
