Liverpool FC fans claim they were conned by scammers using the Hillsborough disaster to convince people to fork out for Champions League final tickets that did not exist.

The alleged scam, which is now the subject of a police investigation, involves fans being offered face value tickets in exchange for a £100 "charity donation".

Bogus sellers claim the money will be donated to an appeal for families affected by the disaster that killed 96 Liverpool supporters in 1989.

Used to know a fella who was a traffic cop in Staffs. If the Vermin or Everton ever got to a Cup Final, they’d all put in to a pool, winner being the one with the most stolen car arrests on the day.
