The one thing he lacked was determination, let his head go down.

Putting his superb volley, goal, holding up and crossing aside: his late burst into their box was heartwarming.

Mourinho has played a blinder with the lad.

Been good for a while now tbf but some aren't happy because he doesn't play like a van basten/pele hybrid

Think he would be very good playing from the right...

Had a shocking start to the match but after his extremely well taken goal it seemed a weight was lifted off his shoulders as he was far better

Hopefully this is the turning point in his Utd career as he has to do more than flat track bully the bottom 10 sides

Crap until his goal. Very good after that.

Some of his early control was poor but aside from the above, superb second half from the lad. Unselfish player, assisted for Jesse too.

Good second half but let's not get carried away.

Both him and pogba need to kick on after this boost for the team

said before that he is a good player and has overall done a job for us, but people have let his bad performances against city and spurs - games in which no one really shone - cloud their judgement of him.

not a class world class number 9 like cantona, ruud, rvp, prime rooney or even zlatan last season, but one of our better post fergie signings.

Come off it, pal

The criticism of Lukaku has been justified - and still is - but delighted for him today. He didn't play that well, but a goal and an assist, and then that run towards the end really got the crowd going. Well done to him and hopefully a springboard for the rest of the season

This.

His first proper big game performance for us. Let’s hope it gives him the confidence to be more aggressive in the big matches.

No reason why Lukaku shouldn't be able to bully the defences of City, Spurs, Liverpool etc. All in his head. Look at Drogba, not the most talented guy but put all his attributes together and gave some of the top sides a torrid time on a regular basis.

I will be delighted to eat crow if Lukaku can replicate that level of performance. Big game and we needed one of our so called called big players to step up and make an impact. It wasn't Pogba or Sanchez but Lukaku. So many comparisons between Morata and Lukaku this season, swap them today and Chelsea win comfortably.

He does better pulling wide than he does centrally. Credit where it’s due, he started poorly and ended up a match winner.

He has been moving better over the last few games. Not sure if he was carrying an injury up to a few weeks ago but there was a period when he was incredibly static. Gone through that and he looks hungry and searching for weak links, highlighted Christiansen today and exploited him. His finish for the equalizer was exceptional, Utd had done nothing in that half, Chelsea should have been comfortable with their dominance but Lukaku changed the game in 2 touches .
