Has he got his calculator out to work out when he'll be back?

Hopefully it's just a few weeks out, wouldn't wish a serious injury on someone like him.

We play them in a couple of weeks time at the Bridge, looks like he's out which is a good thing. Wish him a quick recovery after that though.

sun saying it's the ACL. done it twice myself but with the player he is, it could have a huge impact on the league this year.

Good news in a way but he's my favourite non-United player in the league at the moment as well as arguably the best midfielder in the world so I wish him a speedy and full recovery.

I don't really mind players getting muscle injuries and knocks, but serious knee and ankle injuries piss me right off.

Imagine Ronaldo without those knee injuries, Shearer without his, Blomqvist even.

They rob us of seeing what the player could've been. So while I am happy that Chelsea lose him for 6 months, I hope it doesn't affect him as a player.

I wouldn't wish injuries like them on anyone.

He'd end up crippled if I had a go and that's why I'm kept away from the patients.

Concur.

Superb player. Wish him well.

I'd have Essien over quite a few more celebrated cult figures at United in the blink of an eye.

If Essien was with United you'd have numerous threads complaining about his injuries and his jaunts to the ACN. Oh no wait, he's not white is he.

Essien and Anderson would be the Bjorn and Benny of the midfield world.

Many opposition midfielders would meet their Waterloo against these super troopers. I have a dream that SAF would take a chance on buying the Comedy Calculator Owner. Fernando Torres would look on enviously for sure - although our very own Dancing Queen (JOS) would feel left out.

I really like Essien though - seems to be a good, honest player by and large - doesn't complain like some of the others and gives his best all the time. I wish him a decent recovery.
