Default If you had the choice: Mourinho or Simeone?

We all know the downside of Mourinho: massive ego, personality clashes with players, backroom staff and board members, negative football in key games. Would you take Simone over him? I would, he's done incredibly well with Athletico, domestic and European success, could be about to win the big one. Seems to have a way of extracting 100% out of his players and still have them liking him. Cons? Doesn't speak English and never managed outside of Argentina and Spain. He's a cynical bastard too, but who isn't in this league (apart from Ranieri of course).

Thumbs up

Would I take the massive ego, negative football of Mourinho over the massive ego and negative football of Simeone?

Tough one but I will go with the one who has won the lot and managed in England before

People act like Ferguson wasn't petty and didn't have an ego ffs.

Quote:
Ferguson was sacked for various breaches of contract including unauthorised payments to players.[29] He was counter-accused of intimidating behaviour towards his office secretary because he wanted players to get some expenses tax free. He didn't speak to her for six weeks, confiscated her keys and communicated only through a 17-year-old assistant. The tribunal concluded that Ferguson was "particularly petty" and "immature"
Mourinho is a Ferguson clone. It's the perfect appointment.

Even I'd pick Mourinho.

Simeone seems to do what everyone accused van Gaal of in terms of being deliberately defensive and telling his players not to attack.

Mourinho is fluent in English and has experience and plenty of success in England. He can equal Simeone's snideness during his time here.

Derby day when Jose is reunited with Pep...

Mourinho's age is a worry for me. 53 now. Ranieri is not a young man, but he plays the kindly uncle to his players. Mou has always related more directly to them, made a show of understanding them and their needs, etc, as Simeone does now - but that style seems to have a shelf life.

I'd still take Jose, but it's not as clear-cut for me.

Simeone may be approaching his peak as a manager. Jose might close to being spent. Can't be good acting out the way he is the past few years.

We have no choice.

Simeone is best manager in the business at the moment, but he's not leaving Atleti anytime soon. He's building something.

We've been as pure as the driven snow of dignityland since time immemorial.

Jose's got no business dragging us into the gutter like this
Seething about his lack of dignity tbh

I refuse to regard 53 as "old" these days, sorry

(and Ranieri is a full dozen years older)
