Why would you give a £#%&!? It’s no consolation that they didn’t ‘earn’ their money any less than Blackburn did. We earn more money than other clubs in part because we hawk the club around for sponsorships to anyone who will give us some money ffs

They(city)have not outspent anyone

It's the owners that foot the bill

So what's the point then? If there's no difference between our success (and dare I say the dippers in the 70s/80s....) and the PSGs/Cities of this world, we may as well all just give up and go home because the owners who are willing to throw the most dollar at their clubs - first Chelsea, now PSG and City - are just going to win the majority of trophies domestically (if not in europe).

Modern football has been utterly cheapened by the sugar daddys. No, the citeh fans probably don't give a shit (I wouldn't) but at least our success was bred by success [and history]. Any @#%&! can waltz in with a billion and build a football club, but where's the pride in that?

Football might not be dead but it's circling the drain. Long live away days on the piss because the soul has been completely ripped out otherwise :leavebritneyalonegif:

Liverpool had one of the richest owners in the league during their glory era, we didn't win a league until after becoming a PLC, does that somehow lessen the achievement?

The point is you can't just waltz in and win by outspending teams, of course it helps but there are countless examples of teams who outspent the competition and have nothing to show for it.

Are you aware Manchester United spent billions with our own dodgy owners a long the way....?

It doesn’t matter...

Winning trophies is delicious, it doesn’t cheapen it because your rivals moan about owners and human rights violations, if anything it betters it...thought piss boiling was all the rage ?

Can vouch for this. Got a mate who is a Celtic fan and he's already giddy about wrapping up the league title in the next few weeks.

So there's absolutely no difference between, say, United winning the treble with a squad built around players brought up through the system and City winning the league by dropping a billion on their squad that they wouldn't have had if a sheikh hadn't seen them as a good opportunity to raise his PR profile......?

Fair enough. I disagree.

Jesus - we may all hate everything about United at the moment but to pretend there is no difference between our success, and that of the artificial "sugar daddy" clubs, is genuinely amazing

Are you missing the point on purpose....

It may make a difference morally in your head, but to the general, everyday fan on the ground it doesn’t matter a single bit...

How did the LUHG movement and FC Uunited get on as we strolled to two European finals ?

I’d wager you wouldn’t hear a peep on here about owners, money and transfers if we were winning...

Be honest, being right on 24/7 is tiresome...

There may not be a big difference if you're winning trophies but the bitterness and jealousy is far more when you are not. For example for all the billions pumped in the last decade at Manchester City, Leicester City coming from League 1 to being Champions without financial doping is far more iconic and remembered greatly in history. And that hurt Man City fans watching it happen make no question about it - because it was the complete antithesis of what they have done, while also being what they wished to do for years and decades beforehand.

Everything seems shittier when you're not enjoying watching your own team. You fall out of love with watching your team play and then you fall out of love with the wider game of football.

Let's face it, aside from maybe 20 games or so, watching United over the last 5 years has soured our view of football because they've been so utterly wretched for the most part.

We've had the enthusiasm and zest for watching football slowly kicked out of us after having to endure some of the most embarrassing and humiliating results the club has seen in decades. Everybody is laughing their arses off at us as we lurch from one crisis to the next and naturally we're all raging, looking for people to blame for this.

If we were happy and enjoying watching United then none of this would be an issue really.

Girona v Barcelona to be played in Miami in January
Quote:
Girona season ticket holders will be offered a number of options to compensate them for missing a home game that they have already paid for, including free flights for 1,500 supporters to attend the fixture in Miami and free hotels for an overnight stay. Both the flights and hotels must be secured by refundable deposits.

Fans who don't wish to make the trip the Florida will instead be offered one of 5,000 tickets to the reverse fixture at the Nou Camp in September as well as a 20% refund on their season ticket.

Those who neither wish to travel to Miami nor Barcelona will have 40% of their season ticket price refunded, a significant amount of compensation but one that reflects the fact many fans buy a year-long ticket to guarantee entry to the home games against Barca and Real Madrid.

Girona are now owned by the City Football Group - who own Manchester City - after they purchased a 44.3% stake in Girona in August 2017. Another 44.3% of the club is owned by a group led by Pep Guardiola's brother, Pere

I'd bite their hand off for that as a Girona fan. 20% off season ticket or a free holiday?!?

Wow, wasn't expecting that tbh. Wonder if our authorities will be as robust if (or rather when) the same happens here??
