How does Charlton feel when he sees Mourinho behave like an ill-tempered child? Is it for this that we came together and pulled through after Munich?

You wonder, too, about Mourinho. He would have watched replays of last weekend’s incident, seen that Paul Pogba was hamming it up and realised he himself had misjudged what happened. Pogba deserved a yellow for the attempt to cheat and a red card for the quality of the dive. Does the manager look in the mirror and think: “Jose, you have been an idiot. You owe people an apology.”
