He's by far our best LB and I say on his day, one of the best around at the moment and we desperately need him fit and playing instead of Darmian.

Shaw set to return

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is expected to make his long-awaited first-team return by the end of this month.

Shaw, 21, has not featured for United since 30 November.

Niggling injuries have proved difficult to shake off but the England defender's extended absence has led to suggestions manager Jose Mourinho has no long-term plan for Shaw, who cost United £27m when they signed him from Southampton in 2014.

These rumours have been rejected by both Mourinho and the player's camp.

It is understood Shaw is now in contention for selection and with an EFL Cup semi-final at Hull next Thursday, followed by an FA Cup fourth round tie at home to Championship strugglers Wigan on 29 January, it is expected he will play some part.

I'm hearing this is all a smokescreen and the real issue is that United want Shaw to come out (marketing opportunities - first gay PL player etc.) but that Shawsy is quite literally running scared atm (at the minute not ass-to-mouth).
