Give it a few years and people will come to re-appreciate Rooney. The man is the top scorer for England and Utd, and gave us so many wonderful moments, but people tend to focus on his declining years.

I hope he is still pulling out moments like that when he is 50(stone) and playing in exhibitions and 7 asides with his mates. All this retire and protect your "Legacy" (American bullshit phrase) no keep playing as long as you can, he was right to try that season with Everton to see if he could still do it.
